Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our services and appointments

How often should I have an eye test?

We recommend having an eye test every two years if you're aged 16-70, or yearly if you're over 70, under 16, diabetic, have a family history of glaucoma, or use computers extensively at work. Regular examinations help detect problems early and ensure your prescription is up to date.

Do you accept NHS eye tests?

Yes, we provide NHS-funded eye examinations for eligible patients. You qualify for a free NHS eye test if you're under 16, under 19 and in full-time education, aged 60 or over, registered blind or partially sighted, diagnosed diabetic or glaucoma sufferer, or receiving certain benefits.

How long does an eye examination take?

A comprehensive eye examination typically takes 30-45 minutes. This includes vision testing, eye health checks, pressure measurements, and a discussion of your results with our optometrist. We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

Can I bring my prescription from another optician?

Absolutely! You're welcome to bring your prescription from any optician and we'll be happy to help you select frames and lenses. Your prescription is valid for two years from the date of your eye test, and by law, your optician must provide you with a copy.

Do you offer home visits for eye tests?

Yes, we provide home visit eye examinations for those who are unable to visit our practices due to illness, disability, or mobility issues. Our optometrists bring portable equipment to conduct comprehensive examinations in the comfort of your home. Please contact us to arrange a home visit.

How long does it take to get new glasses?

Standard glasses typically take 7-10 working days from ordering. Specialist lenses or bespoke frames may take longer. We'll give you an accurate timeframe when you place your order. If you need glasses urgently, please let us know and we'll do our best to expedite your order. We do offer an express service on glasses, where we would get your glasses ready within 72 hours.

Do you stock contact lenses?

Yes, we provide contact lens consultations, fittings, and supply all major brands of contact lenses. If you're new to contact lenses, we'll teach you how to insert, remove, and care for them properly. We stock trials of daily, monthly, toric and multifocal contact lenses.

What if my glasses break or need adjustment?

We offer free adjustments and minor repairs for all glasses purchased from us. Simply pop into any of our three locations during opening hours - no appointment needed. For more complex repairs or glasses purchased elsewhere, we'll assess what can be done and provide a quote.
